March 2023.- They are Matías Nova (Liceo Bicentenario San Nicolás), Diego Rebollo (Colegio Almondale Lomas), Leandro Parada (San Fernando College) and Matías Oteiza (The Greenland School): the four selected from the national competition who will be in charge of represent Chile at the 2023 International Computer Olympiad, which will take place in Hungary from August 28 to September 4.
After intensive training, with a lot of motivation and demand, the four selected obtained the best qualifications to attend the international event.
“This is the first time that I compete since a friend invited me to participate in the OCILabs online workshops and I also prepared myself. That’s how I got here and it’s been a great experience,” said Matías Nova, one of those selected for the IOI and also a gold medalist at the 2022 Chilean Computer Science Olympiad (OCI), who lives in the Coelemu commune, Ñuble region, and today it is already preparing for the International Olympics.
The OCI seeks to awaken early interest in computing and bring computational thinking closer to students. Its main objective is to discover and promote young talents early and encourage them to immerse themselves in the world of programming.
This initiative is led by the Chilean Society of Computer Science and has the collaboration of the Instituto Milenio Fundamentos de las Datos. This year it had the support of the companies SOVOS, NTT DATA, CERO, Synopsys, and the University of Concepción.
