IMFD researcher chairs a leading conference on algorithm engineering and experiments.

Gonzalo Navarro, faculty member at DCC U. Chile and researcher at IMFD, serves as a co-chair in organizing ALENEX 2023, Algorithm Engineering and Experiments, an event that brings together the forefront of global research in the field.

October 2022 – ALENEX 2023, Algorithm Engineering and Experiments, is a conference dedicated to showcasing original presentations on the design, implementation, and experimental evaluation of algorithms and data structures. Gonzalo Navarro, faculty member at DCC U. Chile and researcher at IMFD, serves as a co-chair alongside Julian Shun from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, U.S.

“This is an opportunity for those of us working in the field of experimental algorithms to share our advancements and knowledge. Such gatherings foster dynamics that promote progress and exploration of the most challenging topics. It is a joy that these conferences are returning to in-person format, as the pandemic has shown that the virtual version lacks the same level of interaction,” explains Navarro.

The conference, which will take place from January 22nd to 23rd, 2023, in Florence, Italy, welcomes research in applied algorithms, including databases, graphs and graph networks, web applications, operations research, and combinatorial aspects of computer science, as well as computational problems in natural sciences and engineering.

Presentations on algorithms and data structures for advanced computational models, including memory hierarchies and parallel computing, are also included. ALENEX is supported by SIAM and will openly publish its results in January 2023 as SIAM ePubs.
