“Queremos que los humanos estemos a cargo”: Inteligencia Artificial Responsable

August 2023.- “We want humans to be in charge,” says Ricardo Baeza-Yates, Research Director of the Institute for Experiential AI at Northeastern University, academic at DCC U. Chile, and researcher at the IMFD, at the beginning of the talk on Responsible Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Recommendations. “We don’t want humans to be somewhere, just verifying data, but rather we want to be in charge: in control of the technology,” he emphasizes.

In the presentation – coordinated by Felipe Bravo Marquez, academic at DCC U. Chile and researcher at IMFD and Cenia, Ricardo Baeza-Yates discussed the main challenges in the field of artificial intelligence, such as ethics, trust, and data biases. With a series of real-life examples, the expert presents each situation in which human judgment is essential in handling information and data in artificial intelligence.

The activity, which had the participation of around 50 people, is part of the presentations coordinated by the research group Representations for Learning and Language (RaLeLa) from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Chile (DCC U. Chile). These presentations aim to provide a broad and critical view of the development and possibilities of language models, specifically in relation to the latest technological advances in the field of artificial intelligence.
